ONE PERFECT WORD for 2025

In 2012 I read the book “One Perfect Word” by Debbie Macomber.

“The surprising thing is that when we decide to focus on one word for the year,” Debbie writes, “God takes part in the choosing. That’s why the word is perfect for us. We may not see it at the time, but as we look back we see that it all worked together–our word, our life, our journey.”

I was inspired to seek out my One Perfect Word and continued to do so each year. After a few years, I started to add a scriputre verse to help me stay focused on where God is taking me with that word.

This year the One Perfect Word that came to me was SHINE. I thought of so many ways I could SHINE in 2025. I could shine in my profession. I could shine in my family. I could shine for Jesus Christ.

I was reminded of Matthew 5:15.

No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand where it gives light (shines) to everyone in the house.

I desire to shine for my Lord and Savior with my words, with my actions, and with my life. I created a graphic I have made as my PC background so that I am reminded whenever I look at it.

Do you select One Perfect Word each? How do you remind yourself of that word as the year progresses?

One thing I don’t do is create a New Year’s Resolution. Some reports say that only 1-2% of the people who make a New Year’s Resolution actually keep it.

Instead I set goals: SMART goals. Specific – Measureable – Attainable – Relevant – Time Based

It’s hard sometimes to define a specific goal. To help, I have an Annual Goal Setting Worksheet. You can download the worksheet to help you drill down and find that ultimate goal for yourself. I would be happy to help you explore your goals further. Contact me.

What are your goals and your One Perfect Word for 2025? If you haven’t determined them, now is a good time to get started.
