Your phone connects you to a lot of things — appointments, people, plans. But none of those calls can compare to the one call that changes everything: God’s call on your life.
I love that word “CALLED”—a word that threads itself through Scripture like a golden strand, weaving purpose, identity, and invitation into the fabric of our lives.
When I think about being called, my mind goes straight to Matthew 4:19, where Jesus says, “Come, follow me…” Those two words—come and follow—are simple, but they carry the weight of a lifetime. Jesus didn’t hand out a map, a checklist, or a five‑year plan. He simply called. And the call itself carried enough power to pull fishermen out of boats, redirect their futures, and reshape their identities.
And here’s the part that always gets me: He’s still calling today.
Not just pastors. Not just missionaries. Not just the “super spiritual.” He calls ordinary people—people like you and me—right in the middle of our everyday lives.
Sometimes that call feels big and bold, like Isaiah responding, “Here am I. Send me!” Other times, it feels quiet, like a whisper we almost miss because life is loud and distracting. But whether loud or soft, dramatic or subtle, the call is always personal. Always intentional. Always rooted in love.
Let me share a picture with you.
Imagine you’re sitting in a busy café. People are talking, dishes are clinking, music is playing. It’s noisy. But then—across the room—you hear someone say your name. You recognize the voice instantly. Not because it’s the loudest, but because it’s familiar.
That’s what God’s call is like. The more time we spend with Him, the more familiar His voice becomes. The more familiar His voice becomes, the easier it is to recognize His call.
And His call isn’t just to something—it’s from something.
Just like those fishermen, we are called from old patterns, old fears, old identities… and into purpose, transformation, and divine assignment.
Ephesians 2:10 says, “We are God’s handiwork… created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” That means your calling isn’t random. It isn’t accidental. It isn’t something you have to chase down or earn. It’s already prepared. Already waiting. Already woven into who you are.
You are called on purpose, with purpose, for purpose.
But here’s the part we don’t always talk about: Answering the call can feel scary.
Joshua knew that feeling. God had to tell him, “Be strong and courageous… for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Courage isn’t the absence of fear—it’s moving forward while fear tries to hold your ankles. Courage is trusting the Caller more than the call.
And sometimes the call feels too small. Sometimes it feels too ordinary. Sometimes it feels like a dropped stitch—insignificant, easy to overlook.
But in the Kingdom, small things matter. Quiet obedience matters. Hidden faithfulness matters. Every stitch matters in the masterpiece God is creating through your life.
You are called to follow. Called to listen. Called to love. Called to serve. Called to shine. Called to be His.
So today, I want you to sit with this question—not in pressure, but in invitation:
What is God calling you toward right now?
Not ten years from now. Not someday. Right now.
Maybe He’s calling you to rest. Maybe He’s calling you to speak. Maybe He’s calling you to forgive. Maybe He’s calling you to begin. Maybe He’s calling you to return.
Whatever it is, the Caller is trustworthy. The Caller is present. The Caller is patient. And the Caller is with you.
Take one small step today. One yes. One moment of courage. One act of obedience.
Your mindset matters—and when you remember you are called, everything shifts.
Remember, your mindset matters—nurture it well.
